Craniofacial implants have greatly simplified the daily management of facial prostheses. The Medical Art Prosthetics Clinic has used this opportunity to develop new techniques and advanced applications of softer
more flesh-like silicones.

High consistency silicones of much higher tear resistance are used where edge strength is a priority. The manipulation and mold packing characteristics of these silicones also produce deeper longer lasting intrinsic coloration.

Intrinsic coloring: Nuances in pigmentation and vascularity are captured "within" the prosthesis by layering color into the mold prior to polymerization. Like any painting technique, intrinsic coloring relies heavily on artistic skills honed by years of specialty experience.

Opacity-Translucence: Arriving at the ideal pigment/polymer ratio results in a prosthesis that reflects and absorbs light similarly to adgacent skin. This balance between opacity and translucence produces a more natural appearance over varied lighting conditions.
